What has your Chamber Done Last Month?

  • Hosting of this year's first General Membership Meeting at Camayan Beach Resort with prominent guest speakers Mr. Tony Meloto and Mr. Dylan Wilk of Gawad Kalinga Foundation
  • Submitted position paper to RTWPB concerning minimum wage hike petition
  • Followed up on SBFCC position paper to BIR Commissioner concerning our opposition to imposition of excise tax, doc stamp tax and VAT within the Freeport
  • Extended invitation to CILA (Clark Investors & Locators Association) for a joint MOA to strengthen future ties with Clark.
  • Continued in our appeal to Bureau of Immigration to process ACR-I cards co-terminus with SSWV expiry dates of 2 years.


Highlights of the last Liaison Meeting with SBMA Senior Officials

  • Contested short notice announcement of SBMA revenue share increase from 10-15% to cargo handlers
  • Asked SBMA for more strict and visible enforcement of SBMA anti smoke belching law, housing rules and regulations, construction worker regulations
  • Updated on impending bridge closures and rerouting of motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic scheduled Q4/2008
  • Followed up on guidelines with respect to SBMA/GSIS policy of handling of insurance reimbursement to impacted residential SBFZ lessees
  • Continued our opposition to SBMA proposed parking fees within the Zone; now scrapped
  • Sought for reduced requirements, duplication and faster processing in procuring SSWV’s
  • Requested further information and draft Implementing Rules and Regulations on SBMA’s proposed Certificate of Ownership and Land Titling within the Freeport Zone
  • Requested updating on current status of SBMA’s proposal for delisting of locators
  • Opposed SBMA’s directive for closure of Mango Drive through Forest Hills to accommodate multiple housing renovations
  • Discussed and recommended various improvements to traffic safety and driver education
